The highs and lows of winter in southwest Ohio will continue through February and March. According to the 2017 edition of the Old Farmer’s Almanac, colder temperatures in most parts of the country, so it is important to remain comfortable and safe on the road. Forbes Magazine recently published a list of 15 cars and crossover SUVs that are ideal for safely navigating wintry conditions.

SVG Chevrolet in Greenville, SVG Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Eaton and SVG Motors in Dayton have an array of vehicles that are perfect for driving in any season. The easiest solution to stomping Mother Nature is climbing behind the wheel of a solid pickup truck or a truck-based SUV with four-wheel drive, but not everyone needs that type of ride. This is why crossover SUVs, which ride on car-like unibody frames, are hot among motorists. They offer one or more all-wheel drive (AWD) systems, either standard or as optional equipment, to provide added grip in the snow. And a growing numbers of passenger cars are equipped with AWD to make it easier to drive on slick roads.

AWD is not always accompanied with low range gearing, which means it’s generally not intended for extensive off-road use. The exceptions to this rule are the Jeep crossovers on the Forbes’ list. Each can be fitted with special electronic AWD systems that afford moderate trailblazing prowess. The Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Renegade models also offer a system with selectable modes that tailors the AWD system’s performance over snow, sand, mud and rocks.
